Deepin 2014 available for download

After months of tests, a version of the of Chinese Deepin distribution 2014 is released the stable  and is available for download now.

Deepin 2014 is based on Ubuntu 14.04, it does not use GNOME Shell nor Unity not even Cinnamon, but uses a custom shell written in HTML5, which means desktop high and they respond very distinctive.

Deepin uses its own desktop environment, which is called The Deepin Desktop Environment, which adds some new features and highlights, including: the ability to remove applications directly from the bar to start applications, settings and Hot Corners.

The other thing which is a prominent is called Deepin Control Centre, as it is becoming displays system settings in the desktop on both sides of the bar, which allows easy access to the settings, a beautiful visual appearance.

Instead the applications has been improved and developed, by the team contains more than 30 people from the developers.

It is worth mentioning that Deepin Software center is wonderful, which puts the Canonical company in an awkward position and shameful in front of the power and beauty of Deepin Software center.

In addition to applications of multimedia player, which are easy to use, instead of the beautiful Games Centre.

Release of Robolinux 7.5.4 distribution

Robolinux Linux distribution is quick and easy to use, which is based on the ancient Debian distribution  (very stable), which is designed to be suitable for end-users, and has recently added a lot of developments and changes.

Robolinux uses software technique called Stealth VM Software that allows users to create a copy of Windows operating system with all the software installed inside as well as updates (which is the most important feature of the distribution).

In addition to these important feature, which is one of the most important features of the distribution, the developer also added a number of new packages.

Now it is possible to run Netflix on Firefox and Chrome (because it has been added component of Silverlight), some software such as Skype and kdenlive and unetbootin and Plex Media and others were updated; in addition, it has added all the security updates and systemic (upstream) of stable Debian.

PINGUY OS 14.04 has been released

After the Mini PINGUY OS 14.04 version was revealed about two weeks ago, now comes Full distribution edition, a beautiful distro based on Ubuntu brings many of the useful customizations to the final user and applications.

Pinguy OS interface uses GNOME Shell 3.10 by default, which is customized by many additions such as : Gno-Menu, Media Player Indicator, Top Icons and other ...

Each distribution contains a large amount of applications , making it a convenient option for those who do not like to spend the time to install applications or customization.

What are the main changes in PINGUY OS 14.04 LTS?


- Neflix is installed .
- Add several useful scripts that allow you to run torrent files in Firefox and view videos by VLC.
- Enable TRIM system which speed up SSD.
- Liquid Prompt is been used as terminal in GNOME .
- Scripts Have been added for the ability to backup to data and It is based on TestDisk.

In addition, many software and other useful additions such as the TLP program , which provides power , and accelerate the take-off applications and synchronize Profile , program and Plex Media Center , which replaced the XBMC.

GNOME Shell customizations 


We mentioned that Pinguy OS uses version 3.10 of the GNOME Shell , and also bar the Docky It is used as a bar functions \ absolute applications , and there is also a bar on the left disappears automatically, which allows quick access to your folders .

For a list of the Supreme , they are used add Gno-menu, and the distribution interface designed to be simple and intuitive and tidy ; angles as hot ( or shiny ) disabled by default , but you can activate them.

LxQt: a new light desktop environment

LXQt is relatively a new desktop environment written with Qt libraries, It was formerly called Razor-Qt but it merged with the project LXDE Qt and changed its name, It aims to provide a fast desktop environment, light and written with Qt library  to be a good alternative for KDE on devices that are not possess Specifications strong .

Nowadays the version 0.7 was released, I downloaded it for testing it on Ubuntu 14.04 and it has worked smoothly , when you enter into the environment for the first time, it will ask for the window manager you want to use, as it allows you to use any window manager you want like Kwin or Xfwm4 or others.

LXQt is featured by its beauty and simplicity at the same time, the default desktop is very simple and customizable Qt aesthetics, as it is there are some custom attributes to the default environment you can use to get a perfect beauty :

Talking about the consumption of resources, it consumes 360 megabytes of random access memory (RAM) currently, not bad if you compare it with other desktop environments as Kde or Gnome Shell, for example:

This environment comes a set of tools that are available to be customized, such as a tool to change the location of the emergence of notices, change the background, modify the settings of the panel and the possibility of changing its place, change the appearance and icons feature is used, change the mouse cursor, modify default applications, changing the window manager .. and many others :

In this post I will mention 5 best Linux distributions I have tested them myself and seemed to be the best distributions appropriate for beginners , and for advanced users Lot of distributions and versions I have tested , let me consider the following list of distributions as the best distributions usable appropriately for all categories :

1- Linux Mint

Linux Mint


Linux Mint distribution is based on Ubuntu ( and therefore a Ubuntu modified ) , but Mint makes it easy to use Ubuntu for the end user , because it contains a user-friendly interface and the process is very suitable for those who are coming from Windows , it is reserved for modern devices and old ones , It comes with a version called MATE suitable for middle devices and old ones, and Cinnamon which is stylish and allocated to the modern machines. Out of the box, It comes with many applications, codecs, sources, easy updates, and quick access to the applications.

2- Elementary OS

Elementary OS

Elementary distribution is beautiful and very elegant , based on Ubuntu , it's the most beautiful Linux distribution , but is the most beautiful operating system in the world, It comes with Its own interface called Pantheon Shell , which is a mixture between the Mac and the special touch Merged effects lively , this beauty did not affect the smoothness and speed of the system, It is stable and smooth .

3- Pear OS

Pear OS is Imitation of Mac, based on Ubuntu , and the interface used is modified version of WingPanel  which is used in the distribution elementary that we have mentioned before and is called Pear Shell, the advantage of this distribution is to combine the simplicity and beauty , and specifically targeted to fans of Mac , it contains an app to clean the system and another to customize it.

4- Netrunner

Netrunner is Linux distribution with the KDE interface, It is the best distro based on Ubuntu that shapes with KDE, because its aim is to look so easy to use and convenient for the end user, It is featured by Its speed and easy to access everything on It, similar to Windows and very convenient for those who come from Windows .

5- Manjaro

Manjaro

Manjaro, distribution based on Arch, Where the role Manjaro is to It easy for using arch Linux, to make it suitable for the novice and steadily and the stability, it is user-friendly and high customization, Manjaro comes with XFCE and Openbox as the core ( We recommend that you choose XFCE).

Note : that we did not mention Ubuntu and that does not mean it's bad , but it is the source of all distributions that we have mentioned , except the last one , but these distributions mentioned workes to improve the usability of Ubuntu, so they make the best of It in Usability .

Once It is installed, out-of-the-box supports  multimedia codecs and browser plugins, and It comes with a good selection of common applications with tweaked Gnome user interface with enhanced menus, panels and dockbars.
