Amigurumi Turtle Free Pattern

Materials

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook (US E hook) (or a size that fits your yarn)
  • Needle
  • Stuffing
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • inc = increase
  • dec = decrease
  • ** = repeat instructions x times – or round out
  • ( ) = the number in parentheses indicates the number of stitches at the end of the round

Notes:

  • Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral.
  • Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of a round. Move the marker up after completing each round.
  • All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern.

  • Round 2: *Inc* (12 sts)

  • Round 7: *Sc 5, Inc* (42 sts)

  • Round 9-14: *Sc 1 in each stitch* (48 sts)

Eyes (Make two)

Starting with black:

  • Round 1: Sc 9 in magic ring (9 sts)
  • Change color to white:

  • Make 1 sl st – only in the first stitch. Break yarn and leave enough yarn to sew the eyes on the head – you can sew them on before you join the head to the body.

Legs

Pink

Front legs – make 2:

  • Round 1: Sc 6 in magic ring (6 sts)
  • Round 2: *Inc* (12 sts)
  • Round 3: *Sc 1, Inc* (18 sts)
  • Round 4: Sc 1, Inc, *Sc 2, Inc* 5x, Sc 1 (24 sts)
  • Round 5: *Sc 3, Inc* (30 sts)
  • Round 6: Sc 2, Inc, *Sc 4, Inc* 5x, Sc 2 (36 sts)
  • Round 7: *Sc 5, Inc* (42 sts)
  • Round 8: Sc 3, Inc, *Sc 6, Inc* 5x, Sc 3 (48 sts)
  • Round 9: *Sc 7, Inc* (54 sts)
  • Fold the legs and make a half circle – crochet the two sides together with slip stitches (27 sts)
  • Break yarn and leave enough yarn to sew the legs in place later. Pull the end through the leg on one of them.

Back legs – make 2:

  • Round 2: *Sc 2 in each stitch* (12 sts)

  • Go down into the first stitch from round 18 – here you attach your yarn.
