Fold the piece in half and crochet 7 sc across. Do not stuff.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Comb:

Using red yarn:
Make a chain of 5 ch. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, crochet 4 sc. Repeat this 3 times.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Legs (Make 2):

Using orange yarn:

2Rnd: (1 sc, inc) * 3 (9)
3-4Rnd: 9 sc (2 rnds)
Fold the piece in half and crochet 4 sc across.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, hide the end.

Cheeks (Make 2):

Using pink yarn:
6 sc in MR
Fasten off, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.

Assembly and Decoration:

Glue the eyes between rows 13-14, 5-6 stitches apart. Sew on the beak and cheeks. Using three strands of embroidery floss, embroider the eyebrows. Use white thread to add a highlight on each eye.
Sew the comb on top in the middle, and attach the wings between rows 25 and 26 on each side.
Attach the legs to complete your chick!
