Materials

• Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn, 100 g / 120 m, or equivalent
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• 16 mm safety eyes
• YarnArt Jeans yarn, 50 g / 160 m, for facial details
• Scissors
• Plastic needle with a wide eye for sewing parts
• Holofiber or similar fiberfill
• Needle and strong thread for face tightening

Head

Fill the trunk with fiberfill.

Insert the eyes between Rnds 12 and 13 at a distance of approximately 11 stitches, counting from the eye posts.

The section where 6 slip stitches were worked in Rnd 9 forms the elephant's mouth.

Work a sl st and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Face Tightening

Insert the needle under the trunk where the 6 sl st were worked and bring it out underneath one eye.

Insert the needle again at the top of that eye and bring it out at the top of the second eye.

Insert the needle at the bottom of the second eye and bring it out underneath the trunk near the starting yarn end.

Pull the thread carefully so that the eyes move slightly closer together and the trunk angles downward.

Tie several secure knots and hide the thread ends inside the head.

Face Details

Embroider the eyebrows and eyelids.

Attach the Head

Use two knitting needles or similar supports to keep the head positioned evenly while sewing.

Fill the neck area firmly with fiberfill as you attach the head.

Remove the supporting needles after the head has been sewn securely in place.

Attach the Ears

Sew the ears to the head in your preferred position. They may be folded slightly into a droplet shape or attached fully open.

The designer positioned the ears around Rnd 20 of the head, approximately 12-13 stitches apart.
