Materials

Bernat Baby Blanket: 10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m per ball.

• Contrast A: Vanilla (04008) — 1 ball.
• Contrast B: Cloudburst (04802) — 1 ball.

Bernat Baby Blanket: 3.5 oz/100 g; 72 yds/65 m per ball.

• Contrast C: Baby Yellow (03615) — 3 balls.

• Size U.S. 11 (8 mm) knitting needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Size U.S. 11 (8 mm) circular knitting needle, 36" [91.5 cm] long, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Yarn needle.

Note: Blanket is made with 5 Strips. Strips are sewn tog in Finishing.

Blanket

Strip 1 — Left Hexagon

With C and pair of needles, cast on 5 sts.

Inc Rows:

• 1st and 2nd rows: Knit.
• 3rd row: (RS). K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 6 sts.
• 4th row: Knit.
• 5th row: K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 7 sts.
• 6th row: Knit.

Rep last 6 rows, inc 2 sts every 6 rows to 11 sts, ending on a WS row.

Dec Rows:

• 1st row: (RS). K1. K2tog. Knit to end of row. 10 sts.
• 2nd to 4th rows: Knit.
• 5th row: (RS). K1. K2tog. Knit to end of row. 9 sts.
• 6th row: (WS). Knit.

Rep last 6 rows, dec 2 sts every 6 rows to 5 sts, ending on a WS knit row. Break C. Join A.

First Left Hexagon complete. Using appropriate color (see diagram), cont working Left Hexagons to complete Strip.

Cast off.

Strip 3 — Hexagon

Using appropriate color and pair of needles (see diagram), cast on 11 sts.

Inc Rows:

• **1st row: (RS). Knit.
• 2nd and 3rd rows: K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 13 sts.
• 4th row: (WS). Knit.
• 5th and 6th rows: K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 15 sts.

Rep last 6 rows, inc 4 sts every 6 rows to 23 sts, ending on a WS row.**

Dec Rows:

• ***1st and 2nd rows: K1. K2tog. Knit to end of row. 21 sts.
• 3rd row: (RS). Knit.
• 4th and 5th rows: K1. K2tog. Knit to end of row. 19 sts.
• 6th row: (WS). Knit.

Rep last 6 rows, dec 4 sts every 6 rows until there are 11 sts, ending on a WS knit row. Break yarn. Join new color.***

First Hexagon complete. Using appropriate colors (see diagram below), cont working Hexagons to complete Strip.

Cast off.

Strips 2 and 4 — 2 Half Hexagons

Using appropriate color for each Strip and using pair of needles (see diagram on page 3), cast on 23 sts.

Dec Rows: Work from *** to *** as given for Hexagon Dec Rows.

Inc Rows: With new color, work from ** to ** as given for Hexagon Inc Rows.

First 2 Half Hexagons complete. Using appropriate color and pair of needles (see diagram), cont working 2 Half Hexagons to complete Strip.

Cast off.

Strip 5 — Right Hexagon

With C and pair of needles, cast on 5 sts.

Inc Rows:

• 1st row: (RS). Knit.
• 2nd row: K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 6 sts.
• 3rd to 5th rows: Knit.
• 6th row: (WS). K1. Kfb. Knit to end of row. 7 sts.

Rep last 6 rows, inc 2 sts every 6 rows to 11 sts, ending on a WS row.

Dec Rows:

• 1st row: (RS). Knit.
• 2nd row: K1. K2tog. Knit to end of row. 10 sts.

Finishing

Following diagram, sew 5 Strips tog.

Right Side Edging

(RS). With C and circular needle, pick up and knit 72 sts evenly along right side edge of Blanket. Do not join in rnd. Working back and forth across needle, knit 3 rows, noting first row is WS. Cast off.

Left Side Edging

Work as for Right Side Edging along left side of Blanket.

Top Edging

(RS). With A and circular needle, pick up and knit 73 sts evenly along top edge of Blanket. Do not join in rnd. Working back and forth across needle, knit 7 rows, noting first row is WS. Cast off.

Bottom Edging

With B, work as for Top Edging along bottom edge of Blanket.
