Finish stuffing and close the remaining opening.

Arms — Make 2

Rnd 1: 5 sc in MR (5)
Rnd 2: 5 inc (10)
Rnds 3–27: 10 sc around (10)

Stuff the arm lightly only through Rnd 12. Leave the remaining rounds unstuffed.

Fold the arm flat and crochet 4 sc through both layers.

Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing.

Tail

Row 1: Ch 39, turn.
Row 2: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, work 38 hdc.

Sl st and fasten off.

Ears — Make 2

Leave a long yarn tail at both the beginning and end of each ear. The beginning tail will be hidden later, and the ending tail will be used to sew the ear to the head.

Rnd 1: 8 sc
Rnd 2: 8 inc (16)

Place a stitch marker.

Rnd 3: (1 hdc, inc) x 8 (24)
Rnd 4: (2 hdc, inc) x 8 (32)

Fold the ear in half and crochet 3 sc through both layers, working one sc through each corresponding stitch pair.

Fasten off, keeping the ending yarn tail for sewing.

Assembly

  1. Embroider the nose with black thread. Mark 2 points on Rnd 3 of the head with pins, placing them 4 sc apart.
  2. Embroider the center of the nose by bringing the needle into the center of the beginning MR.
  3. Embroider each eyebrow with black thread 5 rounds above the eyes. Each eyebrow should span 2 sc.
  4. With white thread, embroider the whites around the eyes while gently drawing the eyes toward each other. This visually elongates the mouse’s face.
  5. Sew the head to the body.
  6. Sew the arms between Rnds 53 and 54 of the body.
  7. For a girl mouse that will later wear a dress, sew the tail at the center back of the body.
  8. For a boy mouse that will later wear shorts or pants, sew the tail directly to the clothing. The original design does not use a tail opening in the clothing.
