The release of Ubuntu 14.04.1

Canonical released the first update package "1" to a Ubuntu 14.04 available for download, and if you are using Ubuntu 14.04 you can update your system as soon as access to the new version 14.04.1.

Ubuntu 14.04.1 comes up with fixes for problems, packages, and security updates to the system since its launch in April, and moreover, support has been improved hardware support, and increase stability,.

Ended support for Ubuntu 12.10

After 18 months of support, today Ubuntu 12.10 distribution ended support , which was codenamed Quantal Quetzal, and here is a bird spread his wings off the sun.

Canonical company advises users upgrade Ubuntu 12.10 to Ubuntu 14.04 which is supported for 5 years.

Note also, that Ubuntu 13.10 will end its support in July of this year, and the Ubuntu 14.04 will remain supported until 2019 (for Ubuntu 14.04 other derivatives, such as Kubuntu, for Lubuntu, etc ... they are supported until 2017).

Ubuntu 14.04 AIO

During the month of April, the canonical company released Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and shortly also released Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, Lubuntu 14.04 LTS, Kubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS as a result of the multiplicity of tastes about interfaces and default applications and other matters relative to the appropriate Liberals Penguins, for Linux freaks (like me) who prefer to collect different versions or for who have weak internet connection. We must download 5 separated Linux distributions and burnt them separately on CD or USB Flash, and It's hard somehow.

After new version of the most famous free operating system in the world Ubuntu 14.04 was unveiled, there were some new features you should know about in order to use this operating system in its fullest.

Ubuntu 14.04 has come with many beautiful features. Lets take a quick tour in Ubuntu 14.04 highlighting the latest features and properties located on this version ; according to many beta users of this version of Ubuntu, it is impressive in performance, and appearance...

1 . New lock screen  integrated beautifully with the Unity interface

Unity 7 got a new lock screen of its own, and so instead of using Access Manager LightDM as a screen lock , which is integrated with a smart interface Unity.

2 . Has been improved to support Retina screens

Improved to support Ritina screens in Ubuntu 14.04, like those in the MacBook, in addition, the improvements support screens in general.

3 . Has been improved to support Nvidia Optimus

The latest version of the package nvidia-prime is available for installation on Ubuntu 14.04 which allows the better identification of display cards devices and solve problems related to server X.Org, because users can easily switch between display card Intel and Nvidia using the package nvidia-prime.

4 . Enable TRIM system for SSD from Intel and Samsung

5 . Restore local property listings

For as long as the menu bar and regulations in the past versions of Ubuntu is present in the upper band of the system, but now it has been re- property local listings which allow to show the menu bar withing the application and not separated from it :

8 . Removing borders or frames for windows for ambiance theme ( the default theme for Ubuntu )

9 . Softer edges of the windows

Another change gives you a look sharper and smoother , especially in high-definition screens , has been soften and refine the boundaries of the windows so that they look better , see the following picture to understand the meaning :

10 . Filtering opened Windows by keyboard "Unity Spread"

If you do not know what is the Unity Spread, when pressing the keys (Super " Windows logo button " + letter W) you will have several windows open, and then you type.

Now as soon as you write something and you're inside the property spread it will bring the application closest to the letters written , for example, you have two applications are open one Firefox and other VLC, when you type "fire ...." without the need to complete the call , it shall promptly bring the program Firefox open , and so on ...

11 . Super + L keys has Been assigned to lock the screen

Canonical has set the shortcut Super + L to lock the screen by default; It is the preferred method for many users.

The release of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Finally, after a long wait, Canonical announced the launch of version 14.04 of the Linux distribution most popular around the world, Ubuntu, the new version named Trusty Tahr which is featured as being long support LTS will be supported for 5 years and  with`` patches'' security updates.

The default background of Ubuntu 14.04

Canonical and the developer team of Ubuntu Revealed  that the desktop default background of the Ubuntu 14.04 will be released during the fourth month of this year.

As shown in the picture - and although it is similar to the previous default backgrounds - but it has improved significantly, so it looks more comfortable and beautiful, it looks like the welcome screen in Ubuntu Phone.

New feature added to Ubuntu 14.04 - filtering App Spread windows by names

It seems that Canonical as usual added some new features to Ubuntu 14.04, one of these features gives the ability to filter application windows in the spread by name.

This feature makes multitasking even better. Because this change will make app switching easier when viewing all your open app windows (Super + W) at once. and you can filter windows you want by hitting the keyboard and typing the name you want.

Ubuntu 14.04 (alpha) faster and more stable than Ubuntu 13.10

Ubuntu 14.04 is still in the development stage , however intense but it surprisingly (which is still in alpha stage !) Faster and more stabilizing than the stable Ubuntu 13.10 !

He says,one of the users that Ubuntu 13.10 used to have many of the annoying problems like freezing interface and some of the errors .

He ends saying that he started using Ubuntu 14.04 about a month ago , and the system works quickly and there were no problems with the exception of one incident , a collapse message of the Recycle Bin (which does not affect the functionality of the overall system ) , except for that the system works is impeccable , and I can say it is faster than Ubuntu 13.10 and I hope to keep it that way until the month of April , and I think it's the best version of developmental produced by Canonical .

Finally Mate desktop environment will be available in Ubuntu 14.04

Ubuntu Announced  that they will make Mate desktop environment available in Ubuntu 14.04.

For those who don't know Mate desktop, MATE is a fork of GNOME 2, It provides all user features that Gnome 2 used to give.

This desktop environment keeps the traditional desktop experience (two panels, one in the top, the other in the bottom).
